Convert a PDF open in your browser into Figma
Last updated
When the tab you’re on is a PDF, the html.to.design popup turns into a PDF converter: every page becomes editable Figma layers, with real text, vectors and images, ready to paste on your canvas. It works on a PDF open in Chrome’s viewer, a PDF embedded in a page, and a local PDF file.
How to convert a PDF into Figma
- Open the PDF in your browser.
- Click the html.to.design icon.
- Click Copy PDF to clipboard. The button shows Converting… while it works, then PDF copied to clipboard.
- Paste in Figma with ⌘V or Ctrl+V.
PDF conversion is billed to your ‹div›RIOTS ONE credits. If you aren’t signed in, the popup shows Log in to ‹div›RIOTS ONE. If you’re signed in with a Figma account, it offers Switch to ‹div›RIOTS ONE, which signs you out of the Figma account.
Local PDF files
To convert a PDF stored on your computer (a file:// address), the extension needs file access:
- Open
chrome://extensionsand click Details under html.to.design. - Turn on Allow access to file URLs.
- Reload the PDF and open html.to.design again.
When a PDF can’t be read
If the extension can’t read a PDF (a local file it can’t open, or a page that no longer holds the PDF), reload the page or download the PDF. The popup then suggests Use pdf.to.design: drop the file into the pdf.to.design Figma plugin, which imports PDF files directly in Figma.
